This week Hawke's Bay has been showcased on the world's travel stage at TRENZ (Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand) held in Queenstown.
Local tourism operators exhibiting with Hawke's Bay Tourism included Gannet Safaris Overland, Art Deco Trust, Mangapapa Petit Hotel, Takaro Trails and Cycle Turismo.
Managed by the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand TRENZ brings together about 900 travel and tourism buyers from 31 countries representing traditional and emerging visitor markets, New Zealand tourism operators and domestic and international media.
It's the biggest and most important annual international business event on the New Zealand tourism industry's calendar, says Tourism Industry Association New Zealand Chief Executive Tim Cossar.
"The event directly helps to grow New Zealand's tourism industry, worth $9.5 billion in foreign exchange annually," he said.
Hawke's Bay Tourism General Manager Annie Dundas said it was a key business opportunity to showcase Hawke's Bay tourism product and services. "We were successful in securing seven VIP buyers from overseas to visit our region on their way to TRENZ. Showcasing Hawke's Bay first-hand is the best way to ensure pick up from international travel buyers and agents."
It was the first trade event where the new look Hawke's Bay brand and "Get Me To Hawke's Bay" tagline was used. All Hawke's Bay exhibitor stands were branded with banners displaying iconic Hawke's Bay images with the tagline and brand.
Michael Neilson from Gannet Safaris Overland said it was a positive atmosphere with a renewed energy for tourism in Hawke's Bay. "We have had a steady stream of quality appointments which we are confident will lead to increased business."
