New Zealand Institute of Economic Research principal economist, Aaron Drew, is the new chairman of Stewart Group's investment committee.
He has previously worked for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, as manager of the modelling and research teams, a consultant for the IMF, and four years in France as an economist
for the OECD. He had seven years with the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, where he developed a number of asset and investment strategies, and was a member of its investment committee.
Stewart Group director, Nick Stewart, said it was committed to bringing the best talent the industry had to offer to Hawke's Bay "and Drew's appointment does just that"for the Hastings-based wealth management company.
In November last year, Mr Drew joined the committee which oversees the design of portfolios and two asset class KiwiSaver funds it manages in association with Grosvenor Investment Management Ltd.
The committee ensures they are managed in accordance with the mandate and philosophy of investing for each fund.
Mr Stewart said the appointment benefited the group's services, providing credibility "that can give peace of mind to advisers coming under increased scrutiny to justify investment allocation decisions".
