The Kaweka Food range has become synonymous in the long lasting ready to eat food sector.
The business is in receivership but is being sold as a going concern by receivers David Ruscoe and Richard Simpson of Grant Thornton.
The Kaweka Food Company based in Omahu Rd Hastings is the leading manufacturer of retort processed shelf stable ready to eat meals.
The company has been at the forefront of the innovative process that uses high-end thermal processing for an extensive range of ready meals.
Colliers International sales manager Jude Minor said it was very rare for this type of business to come on to the market.
"Everything has been done, market research, product development and all that's needed is some strong marketing and sales experience.
"The brand is established and I would expect some buyer interest from other well established food companies," Mr Minor said.
The company opened a purpose built state of the art thermal processing facility in June 2007. The development included a completely new internal manufacturing shell built to the highest export standards.
The factory has one production line with a throughput capacity of 7500 standard units a shift or around four million units a year on a multiple shift.
Provision has been made for the installation of a second production line in the same area.
The business has an annual turnover of about $2 million.
The factory is on freehold land on Omahu Rd with a total area of 2136sq m, comprising of 1075.65sq m of processing/load out, a 196.5sq m office and 828.57sq m of warehouse.
"The warehouse and load out areas are spacious, have plenty of pallet racking and excellent access for inwards and outwards goods."
The business is offered for sale by Deadline Private Treaty. Offers lodged at the offices of colliers International, Level 3, 19 Marine Parade, Napier. For more info contact Jude Minor 027 552 2996
