The Audi Sales Manager of the Year 2011, Dwanye Bewley, of Euro City in Napier, once thought he would take over the family orchard, but "things changed".

His talents on the race track saw him race Super Tourers at Bathurst for two seasons, thanks to Hawke's Bay sponsor Fastway Couriers.

Four years ago he decided it was time to return - but his ambitions had changed. "I'm quite passionate about motor vehicles," he said. The only reason I took this job was because I like the brands - Audi, VW and Skoda."

Before his racing career he cut his sales teeth selling tractors, but the Audi award was not about sales. Audi of New Zealand use wide-ranging criteria, including customer satisfaction.

Also successful at Euro City was Malcolm Blair who received the runner-up Parts Manager award.

He said his success was made easier because of Bewley's, but Bewley said his success was not his doing.

"It's because of all our great clients in Hawke's Bay who are loyal to us," he said.
