The third stage of a $45 million Hastings retirement village has been announced.
The $9.2 million stage three of Summerset in the Orchard begins at the end of April.
The Ada St gated retirement village featured two and three-bedroom townhouses with varying levels of facilities.
Summerset Hastings sales manager Dave Atkin said the Hastings Summerset design was what people had asked for.
"Summerset in the Orchard is a new, modern village," he said. "With the baby boomers coming into the market and wanting more living space and space for family to stay, we're more than happy to cater to what they want."
The eight two-storey townhouses with views to Te Mata Peak would be built alongside eight stand-alone villas, four two-bedroom townhouses and five 1.5 bedroom townhouses, he said.
The hub of the village was a complex comprising a bowling green, cafe, gym and library.
Stage three would double the size of the village, which currently had 31 residents. Staff numbers would also double with up to 12 new jobs.
"In time this village will be one of the biggest around," Mr Atkin said. "It's in a beautiful location. We want our residents to live a good life - it's all about them."
The village will be hosting an open day on April 23.
Summerset is the third largest operator and second largest developer in the retirement village industry, owning and operating 12 villages in the North Island.
