Whanganui Women's Refuge will benefit to the tune of over $12,000 after the very successful Property Brokers and Team Ritesh charity golf tournament at the Belmont Links on Friday.

Despite plenty of nerves at the Wanganui Golf Club when the early morning downpour left a sheen of water on the greens, conditions had cleared up by the 11am tee-off and only got better as the day went on.

Twenty-eight teams of four players made up of local businesses and groups played the ambrose tournament.

Ultimately, Treadwell Gordon were the winners, very narrowly ahead of Spooner, Hood & Redpath.

The teams were well looked after with food stations with barbecues set up on the both the front nine and the back nine, while the day started with 120 fresh Georgie Pies and saw refreshments being constantly delivered around the course.

After the day's play, there was a charity auction held, which included a signed Lydia Ko shirt going under the gavel for $2000.
