New teams in BIZminton4 add to interest

Two new teams joined the competition when BIZminton4 got under way at the Badminton Centre last Wednesday.

Enthusiasm and hilarity marked the first week of the league. A few players not having played badminton before added to the fun of the night, and a couple of “forward rolls’ were observed.

Now that players have learned the rules and how to serve, some teams are practising.

Results from the first night: Starship Enterprise (2) defeated Launch (1) 6 matches to 0; Ngati Rangi Night Blades def Launch (2) 5-1; Horouta 101s def Monday Madness 6-0; No Idea def Gisborne Volunteer Centre 4-1; Te Hapara High Flyers def Starship Enterprise (1) 4-2; Te Hapara Excellers def WSP Opus 4-1; Late Comers def Ngati Rangi Night Blades 4-2.

Draw for second night, TOMORROW —

6pm: Court 1, Starship Enterprise (2) v Te Hapara High Flyers; C2, Ngati Rangi Night Blades v Horouta 101s; C3, Gisborne Volunteer Centre v Launch (2); C4, Launch (1) v WSP Opus.

7pm: C1, Te Hapara Excellers v No Idea; C2, Gisborne Volunteer Centre v Launch (1); C3, Late Comers v Te Hapara High Flyers; C4, Monday Madness v Starship Enterprise (1).

Launch (1), Te Hapara High Flyers and Gisborne Volunteer Centre all have two ties tomorrow.
