Former Gisborne cricketer Kayley Knight is in a 15-strong New Zealand A squad that headed to Sri Lanka today for three one-day matches and three Twenty20s in Dambulla.

It is the first women’s New Zealand A tour to Asia.

The Northern Brave pace bowler is one of seven players in the squad with White Ferns experience. Knight made her Twenty20 International and One-Day International debuts earlier this year, but missed out on White Ferns selection for the Women’s T20 World Cup in England in June and July.

All New Zealand A matches are at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. One-day matches are on May 12, 15 and 18. T20 matches are on May 21, 23 and 25.

New Zealand A squad: Kate Anderson, Darcy Prasad (Canterbury Magicians), Bella Armstrong, Prue Catton, Fran Jonas (Auckland Hearts), Marama Downes, Kayley Knight, Tash Wakelin, Jess Watkin (Northern Brave), Emma Black, Bella James, P.J. Watkins (Otago Sparks), Kate Gaging, Hannah Rowe (Central Hinds), Xara Jetly (Wellington Blaze).
