Ford Falcons took the lead in the Brezz’n Darts Club winter league, defeating Tigers 14-7 in Tuesday night competition.

Falcons came out firing in the first set of singles, winning the first three games, T Irwin defeating T Ratapu 2-1, J Ngarangione defeating S Henry 2-0, and brother H Ngarangione defeating Tipi Eyles 2-1.

New Tigers team member C Timothy def A Curtis 2-0, Falcons’ S Kirikino def T Te Moananui 2-0, and Tigers anchor Leroy Eyles def P Tom 2-0.

Falcons led 4-2 going into the pairs.

Falcons dominated the first four games of pairs, T Irwin and J Ngarangione defeating T Ratapu and S Henry 2-0, H Ngarangione and A Curtis def T Eyles and C Timothy 2-0, S Kirikino and P Tom def T Te Moananui and L Eyles 2-1, and T Irwin and J Ngarangione def T Eyles and C Timothy 2-0.

Tigers got one back when T Te Moananui and L Eyles def H Ngarangione and A Curtis 2-1. Then Falcons stalwart anchors S Kirikino and P Tom def T Ratapu and S Henry, before Tigers fought back to take the last three pairs games — T Te Moananui and L Eyles def T Irwin and J Ngarangione 2-1, T Ratapu and S Henry def H Ngarangione and A Curtis 2-1, and T Eyles and C Timothy def S Kirikino and P Tom 2-0.

Falcons led 9-6 going into the reverse singles.

With victory beckoning, Falcons won five of the six games, T Irwin defeating L Eyles 2-1, J Ngarangione def T Te Moananui 2-0, H Ngarangione def C Timothy 2-1, A Curtis def T Eyles 2-1 and S Kirikino def S Henry 2-0, before Tigers’ T Ratapu defeated P Tom 2-0.

Falcons are on top of the A Grade after the first round.

They reached the podium twice, gaining runner-up finishes in the teams event (to a Malaysian team) and in the pairs (Tahuna Irwin and Jordan Ngarangione) to a Malaysian pair.

Some top-ranked teams took part.

Congratulations go to the team members, who did themselves, the club and the region proud.
