GISBORNE Gymnastics Club (GGC) members were out in force at their last competition for the year, a girls-only event in Whakatane this month.

Head coach Nicola Ludwig said she had never seen so many GGC Step 1 entries in the 17 years she had been coaching with the club.

“For some of our gymnasts it was the first time they had competed, but with so many of our gymnasts there it felt like home,” she said.

In Step 1 (eight-years-and-over division), Lily Rolls was first overall. She also won gold on beam and silver on uneven bars, and placed fourth on vault and floor.

Second overall was Reilly McKay. She won gold on floor, and bronze on beam and vault.
