Four real contributions . . .

Four good innings — Keegan Martin’s 64, David Situ’s 62, Tushar Balat’s 46 and Franco Colucci’s 24 — paved the way for Coastal Ultrasound Horouta’s 156-run victory over High School Old Boys (2).

Horouta made 228-4 in 30 overs. Opener Colucci, No.3 Situ, second-drop Martin and No.5 Balat were all in fine touch. The left-handed Martin has represented Poverty Bay at senior level and can hit a ball out of sight.

Most successful HSOB bowlers were Aman Kamboj (2-54 off six overs), Jason Drain (1-26 off six) and Mike Francis (1-43 off six). Francis, the most experienced, bowled three maiden overs.

In response, HSOB were dismissed for 72 in 22.3 overs but not before wicketkeeper-batsman Ollie Needham, batting at No.4, had struck 35 runs off 48 balls and opener Francis had hit four boundaries in his innings of 22 from 26.

Left-arm spinner Clarence Campbell bowled with cunning and accuracy to take five wickets for seven runs in five overs.

“David (Situ) and Keegan (Martin) batted really well for Horouta, although we did put down a few catches,” HSOB (2) captain Isaac Hughes said.

“For us, it was good to have a recognised batsman — Ollie Needham — in the team. He looked fluent and played well but just ran out of partners.”
