Gisborne has to be content with the status of beaten finalist in the World Cup Final of New Zealand Cities.
The Today FM competition ended this morning with Gisborne recording just 33.7 percent of the vote against Napier.
Mayor Rehette Stoltz, speaking on Today FM this morning, said Gisborne was
proud to be in the final. Gisborne was a small city “but we have it all”.
Napier Mayor Kirsten Wise, while praising her own city, said it was good to have two provincial East Coast cities in the final.
Gisborne eliminated Auckland with 57 percent of the vote, New Plymouth with 91 percent and, in the semifinal, Wellington with 65 percent.
