Summer camping is gathering momentum around the district as the holiday period and peak summer approaches.

Gisborne District Council has reminded campers to provide the number of people staying at camp sites.

“If you’re planning a camping trip in Tairāwhiti this summer, make our website your first stop,” the council said in a Facebook post.

“Whether pitching a tent or parking up, you’ll need to apply for a free seasonal camping permit’ at bit.ly/3SMQ7aT

“Help us help keep you all safe and happy. We require the numbers information so we have numbers in case of a Civil Defence emergency.”
