A SET of stairs at Tuahine Crescent fell victim to a combination of high tides and east swells this week.

The sea slams into the southern end of the beach and the sand below the stairs eroded before the stairs slipped into the sea, leaving a 2.5m drop to the beach.

The stairs were found on Wednesday morning further down the beach and GDC removed them. The council put up a temporary barrier to close the site off and is developing a plan to repair it.

The council recommends keeping clear of the site in the interest of safety.
