THE organisers of a fundraiser at Ormond School have a new bike track around the school in their sights.
Zara Bousfield, Sonia Gardener and Debs Quilter are on the fundraising committee, and while they don't exactly have a financial target in mind, with an approximate figure for the track theyknow they have to get busy and importantly, organise the students into their own fundraising.
The school's first big fundraising event is scheduled for Thursday September 8, with a fun run for all the students.
“The kids have chosen a business each to approach and they are being sponsored per lap, or you can give a lump sum,” said Zara Bousfield.
“They will wear business logos on their T-shirts, or businesses can hang their flags or banners on the day. “Only the seniors have gone to get sponsorship, but the juniors can also if they want to. We have a rough budget for the bike track. We're hoping we'll get parents involved in working bees, but we will need some financial support for it. Being a rural school, people will be able to use the track on their bikes and scooters at the weekends as well.
“We wanted a fundraiser that involves the kids and gets them active. We're trying to get as many people as possible on the day to support the students.”
The organisers have already got farm supplies company PGG Wrightsons on board to do burgers on the day, and there will be cake stalls, a coffee cart and spot prizes.
The fundraiser will run from 10am-2pm, on Thursday, September 8.
