Purrsitive end to stray’s steel pipe catastrophe

Firefighters were called to a veterinarian clinic in Ormond Road yesterday morning after a man turned up with a kitten with its head firmly wedged through a steel pipe connector.

A fire crew responded at 8.45am.

“The kitten had been severely distressed when presented and the vet staff did a good job sedating it,” a senior firefighter said.

“We were able to remove the pipe from its head using a small cutting device and the kitten was none the worse for wear.”

The senior firefighter said the kitten was believed to be a stray animal.

“The vets said it was less than six weeks old. It’s doing well after its ordeal and the vets said they would ensure it was properly homed,” he said.

“So all in all it was a good result.”
