Opinion
I have written about this matter in the past with little success, but cyclists using the walkway/cycleway should have a warning device on their cycle.
Way back, in long ago times, it was compulsory to have a bell or battery-operated horn on your bike. What happened to that regulation?
I
was walking along the walkway/cycleway when a cyclist passed me doing about 30-40km. I heard no warning. Should I have moved two feet to the left, he would have collected me with dire results.
This pathway is not for cyclists alone. It is also pedestrian territory.
Is it going to take an accident to force cyclists to add a warning device to their machines? Young children, pensioners and dog walkers also use this area. It is not an area exclusive to cyclists. Let's have a change before a catastrophe.
