The main ewe flocks on farms across the region have just started to give birth to their new arrivals.
Most early mated ewe mobs had now lambed, said AgFirst consultant Peter Andrew.
“Pasture growth and feed levels have been positive for the lambing ewes with the warm, wet winter conditions.”
Mr Andrew said the back country ewe flocks were still a few weeks away from lambing.
“Meanwhile, it feels like it has been a long winter for many cattle.They didn't really take much momentum out of autumn because of the ‘dry' and spring seems to be taking forever to kick in.”
