A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.
An injured female mountain biker from Auckland was flown out of the Lake Waikaremoana area on Wednesday after the Rescue Coordination Centre responded to an emergency locator beacon signal.
The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Helicopter Rescue team were tasked by the centre at about midday that day for a beacon search
to locate the woman.
They located the woman who was hurt when her bike struck a pothole on the track she was negotiating.
“Our on-board critical care paramedic assessed the patient and we flew her to Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti Gisborne Hospital for further treatment,” a chopper spokeswoman said.
“She had suffered some moderate upper- body injuries.”
