Gisborne parking: New meters installed at Farmers and library

Parking meters have been installed at the library carpark and the carpark behind Farmers in Gisborne’s city centre.

Until recently, the two spots did not have meters.

Last year, Gisborne District Council added 120-minute parking limit signs to Lowe St, between Gladstone Rd and Childers Rd, after signs were vandalised.

At the time, the council indicated it intended to address the parking payment machine situation in the Farmers carpark on Grey St and Bright St.

During the period without a payment machine, vehicles did not appear to be ticketed in that spot.

All-day parking was available for $10.

A new meter has also been set up at the HB Williams Memorial Library carpark on the Bright St side.

The machine has a limit of two hours of paid parking for $6.
