Opinion
I see the National candidate has begun to follow in the footsteps of the Party leadership, sharing speculative and untrue content to the local newspapers recently.
Tania Tapsell alleged that Gisborne would lose their District Health Board under a Labour Government, then proceeded to say she would fight against it.
Presenting this as fact was scaremongering at its finest and beneath what should be expected of someone who is already a public servant (as a current local councillor in Rotorua).
The recommendation from the review was to reduce the total amount of DHBs in New Zealand, but Labour has said that any decisions would be made in consultation with local communities.
In a similar vein, Tapsell advocated for a 50-metre Olympic Swimming Pool at the Sports Gisborne ‘Meet the Candidates” meeting on Monday night, without realising that a 50-metre pool has already been confirmed and agreed to by the relevant parties.
