JUST a month after appointing its first chief executive, Gisborne Chamber of Commerce has announced more changes. For the past nine months, the chamber has been based in the Tairawhiti Business Hub in Childers Road, along with Activate Tairawhiti and East Coast Regional Business Partner.
However, chief executive Terry Sheldrake
said expansion by the chamber and Activate Tairawhiti meant it had relocated to new premises. It had also hired a new administrator, Lena Bevan, to work with Mr Sheldrake, the chamber executive and members.
“With so much happening in the local business space, my appointment as the chamber’s first CEO, Lena coming on board, and Activate growing rapidly, we agreed that the chamber should have its own dedicated office. I’m tasked with lifting the chamber’s profile and accessibility for our current and future members. With a ground floor location and generous parking, the new office suits our immediate needs.
“Lena and I look forward to meeting more members and business owners over the coming weeks, and encourage anyone keen to discuss how the chamber can support their business to get in touch. I’d also like to thank the chamber’s office manager, Mel Brouwer, who has done an exceptional job keeping the chamber running smoothly during this transitional phase. She will stay on for the next few weeks to help Lena settle in and is then taking up a fresh career opportunity.”
Activate Tairawhiti chief executive Steve Breen was supportive of the move.
