Eastland Port handled 188,000 tonnes of log cargo in December and several cruise ships, one of which berthed on the new Wharf 7. The National Geographic Orion has been here several times already this summer, and calls again on Friday.
“We have already had three cruise ships this month and expect
a further four to call in before the start of February,” an Eastland Port spokeswoman said.
“It’s been great to see the return of cruise this season and it’s been smooth sailing so far. We hope for continued settled weather to provide a pleasant experience for these international visitors,” she said.
“We saw eight log ships come through for the final month of 2023. The ISO Limited operators have done some awesome work on the yard last year and the December figures were a testament to their efforts.”
