Covid cases not health workers

None of the four Tairawhiti residents diagnosed with Covid-19 were health workers.This was confirmed after an Official Information Act request by the Gisborne Herald to Hauora Tairawhiti via the Ministry of Health.

Half of Tairawhiti's four cases were a couple, who returned from a holiday to America. They were not recorded being positive for Covid-19 on the same day.

In the OIA request, Hauora Tairawhiti chief executive Jim Green said this was because cases were recorded on the date a positive diagnosis was made.
