Covid-19 cases tracking downwards in Tairāwhiti

There are 43 active cases of Covid-19 in Tairāwhiti (as at midnight, Sunday), which is down from 69 cases at the same time last week.

Official Te Whatu Ora figures show 3569 active cases across the country, well down from 6793 last week.

Total cases nationwide, since Covid-19 was first found in New Zealand in late February 2020 number 2,519,095 including 25,703 in Tairāwhiti.

No deaths were recorded in Tairāwhiti last week, but 46 deaths were recorded across New Zealand, up from 41 last week.

Those 46 deaths comprised four from Northland, 12 from Auckland, four from Waikato, two from Bay of Plenty, four from Hawke’s Bay, one from Taranaki, three from Manawatu, one from Whanganui, three from Wellington, four from Tasman, four from Canterbury and three from Otago-Southland. The location of one was listed as unknown.

One was aged in their 20s, two were in their 40s, one was in their 50s, five were in their 60s, seven were in their 70s, 20 were in their 80s and 10 were aged over 90.

Of these people, 17 were women and 28 were men.
