It promises to be a colourful Christmas Parade this year with the call going out to start thinking about designing floats with the theme Colours Of The Rainbow.

Those keen to be part of the November 29 parade are encouraged to put on their creative caps, choose one or more, or even all of the colours of the rainbow, and find inspiration in anything from movies to books and music.

Enthusiastic people can team up with a school, pre-school or not-for-profit organisation, or if finding an appropriate vehicle is a problem, simply provide a walking group entry.

“It’s all about putting smiles on kids’ faces,” says organiser and city centre vibrancy manager Lana Davy.

“We want to celebrate how Tairawhiti has come through some dark times of Covid-19 proud.”

Resene is offering to sponsor paint for floats so people can take advantage of that.

The parade will make its way along Reads Quay and around the city centre on Sunday, November 29.

Entry forms are available from the i-Site on Grey Street or by emailing Lana Davy at lana@gisbornenz.com for an online form.
