Most impressive on the weekend was Armstrong's 100m freestyle open record of 56.78. And to prove she is not just a sprinter she shattered the BOP 1500m freestyle record as well, swimming 17:02.69, just 10 minutes after setting a new 50m mark.
Armstrong now holds every Bay age group record for 17-year-olds, excluding breaststroke.
Capp, perhaps annoyed still from a disqualification in the 200m breaststroke, came back with a record-breaking 800m freestyle of 8:18.12.
Not content to leave all the action to the experienced campaigners, the younger members also performed well. Ten-year-old Mia Pugh added to the Greerton medal haul with a personal tally of one gold, one silver and four bronze medals, setting personal bests in both heats and finals, while Blake Horne (12) showed his backstroke prowess with a smooth win over 200m, touching in 2:40.82 ahead of clubmate Isaac Marshall who took bronze
In addition Horne won silver and bronze in the other backstroke finals. Younger brother Logan (10) contributed to the family hardware with an excellent 50m butterfly bronze which he matched later on in the 200m backstroke.
Liam Moffat, 10, continued Greerton's string of backstroke success with bronze medals in the 50m and 100m events. Calum Gilmour, 14, was impressive in the butterfly sprint events, taking the bronze medal in the 100m in a time of 1:09.28 and narrowly missing out in the 50m with a hard fought fourth.
With swimmers attending from many regions outside the Bay of Plenty as they attempted to qualify for the Grand Prix finals it meant the competition for finals berths was extremely hard. However, Greerton swimmers set 144 personal bests during the meet.
Especially pleasing for the coaches was the number of young swimmers experiencing their first regional championship. Watch out for the likes of Jasmine Baggaley (10), Kim Cadzow (9), Izobel Finlayson (9), Lys Game (11), Mackenzee Harris (11), Keeley Johns (12), Phoebe MacIntyre (11), Abbie Mortimer (10), Olivia Philpot (9), Leah Van Zyl (11) and Aimee Watene (9).
Meanwhile, Otumoetai Swimming Club had 40 swimmers at Baywave, with Thomas Hacker and Danielle Spreadborough being the standout performers, picking up three Bay of Plenty records.
Hacker set new marks in the 50m 'fly (37.85sec) and 100 'fly (1.29.39sec) for under-nine boys, and Spreadborough the 50m freestyle (32.19) for 10-year-old girls with her time bettering clubmate Jessica Miller's record.
A 40-medal haul was accumulated by Otumoetai swimmers, with golds won by Samantha Carter, Hacker, Josh Pickett, Spreadborough and Alice Williams.
There were a number of new club swimmers to this event who also performed well, including; Nicole Allen, Georgia Rattray, Grace Blissett, Thomas Chaney, Shaleah Wells, William Inman, Kaiwhetu Kipa, Alicia Wilson, Tamarau Kipa, Samantha Reder, Taituha Woller and Christopher Hughes.
