Some school trips go to the museum, others to play in sports fixtures. Yesterday a group of Rotorua Girls' High School students had a behind the scenes look at the Rugby World Cup.
As a thank you for performing at the Energy Events Centre Fan Zone on Friday and onthe Village Green on Saturday to promote the tournament, 14 girls and their cultural group tutors went backstage at Rotorua International Stadium. Their visit coincided with the Samoa captain's run.
"We all have Samoan heritage," Pacific Island co-ordinator Rana Motu said.
"We did a Samoan cheer for them while they were playing on the field, we took our flags along and our jerseys. The girls were in high spirits and absolutely loved it.
"They loved the fact they felt special - we were the only group there. We were excited we could see our people from Samoa face to face and let them know they have our support."
