Bay of Plenty Championship Pairs, Whakatane Bowls Stadium, Sunday -

This was always going to be a close fought battle with a strong field that includers past holders of the title. After the qualifying rounds the field ofo 28 pairs was reduced to eight teams.

Noel Gray and Jim Flett (RIBC) bt Nathan and Sam Bryant (Westbrook), Karl Rice and Josh Miller (Western Heights) bt Dianne Mackey and Audrey Gray (Edgecumbe), Robin and Jaque Porter (Lake Taupo) bt James Schuster and Keith Richardson, Paul Guest and Maureen Harris (Edgecumbe) bt Simon Hatcher and Angela Rose (Catholic).

Porter and Gray lost the next round leaving Rice and Guest to play the final with Paul Guest and Maureen Harris claiming the 2012 Bay of Plenty Championship pairs title.

The plate event, played in conjunction with the main event for non quaifiers, was won by Marguirrite Gerrand and Sheryl Wiggins with Mike and Pani Bryant runners up.

Geyser Trophy points: Rotorua Citizens 42, Edgecumbe and Ngongataha 24, Western Heights 14, RIBC, Ohope and Lake Taupo 12.

The Bay of Plenty Championship Triples will be played in Ngongataha Hall on Sunday, April 22.
