Opotiki were deserved winners after scoring four tries to one to end an encouraging season for the Marist men, who will no doubt be looking to go a few places better next season after finishing in seventh position on the ladder.
Rotoiti, winners of their last seven of nine overall, missed a semifinal spot by only one win after finishing Paroa's brief stay in the premier division with a 41-5 hiding.
Their 47 points were good enough for sixth place on the ladder - one point behind Te Puna in fifth.
Te Puna, who had a mathematical chance of reaching the knockout stages going into the round, ended their year as winners against Whakarewarewa 24-8.
Tauranga Sports beat Rangataua 72-19 to finish the regular season on a remarkable 83 competition points out of a possible 90.
The competition frontrunners scored 717 points this season while only conceding a competition low of 325, but will have to go the rest of the way without a swag of Steamers players for the final two matches of the year.
Division One
The semifinalists have been found in Division One following a tense final weekend of action.
The big winners were Te Teko, who leapfrogged Waikite into fourth place on the ladder courtesy of a high-scoring 38-24 win against Ruatoki.
The result, including a four-try bonus point, lifts them to 52 competition points, meaning they will face top-qualifiers Rangiuru in one of the two semifinals.
Rangiuru had top spot sewn up , but went about their business regardless against a Waikite side that needed to win to assure a place in the postseason.
The high stakes meant less points, with Rangiuru finishing the regular season on 72 competition points after the 16-3 win.
Poroporo and Kahukura were on opposite sides of three-point results in the final round, but will meet in the second semifinal.
Poroporo finished second on the ladder after fighting Rangiuru for top spot for much of the season, but were pushed every inch of the way by Marist St Michael's before prevailing 24-21.
Kahukura finished third after falling to Katikati 27-24.
A Waikite win would have meant Kahukura travelled to play leaders Rangiuru, but instead their trip will be to Poroporo.
Ngongotaha ended their season on a positive note by beating Whakatane Marist 35-27.
