While defending Seeka KI Western BOP champions Tauranga Sports held on to the Hardy Rosebowl (WBOPRFS Challenge Trophy) against Judea on Easter Friday, they were given a real shake by the home team.
The visitors to Maharia Winiata Park held a relatively narrow 13-7 advantage at the halftime break. Inthe second spell, the two sides traded tries, with Tauranga Sports leading by just two points with time up on the clock. In the last play of the game, Tauranga Sports intercepted a promising Judea attack to score under the posts with the resulting conversion giving the visitors a 36-27 win.
First up in the Easter break was the encounter at Maramatanga Park between Te Puna and Te Puke Sports on Thursday night. The curtainraiser to the premier game became a battle of attrition, with Te Puke Sports snatching a 14-12 victory.
