The player injured in the incident on Saturday was former Ponsonby captain Joe Royal, who was recently employed by the BOP Rugby Union as a regional rugby administrator for the Central Bay of Plenty.
BOP Rugby chief executive Mike Rogers said the union received a citing regarding Chisholm that had gone through its citings review officer.
"If it is factual then it is disappointing but I don't get involved in judicial. It is totally independent so I don't know all the facts," Rogers said.
"The key thing is if there are eye witnesses then they should come forward to the union through the judiciary because without video footage it is generally a 'he said, she said' scenario. Any information we can gather is certainly going to help the judicial committee make a good informed decision.
"[Chisholm] certainly was not red carded or yellow carded for any alleged incident so I don't think anything was seen by the officials.
"Joe Royal was the individual injured and I have seen his face and it is not fantastic. But certainly it was not as bad as originally thought ... it was more lacerations. But it is still not acceptable if it was foul play. There is no place for it in our game."
Chisholm refused to comment last night.
