The 2013 Bay Of Plenty Punter of the Year competition is returning to the Tauranga racecourse this Saturday as part of the club's premier winter racing event, the Amcor Kiwi-LRK Trays Kiwifruit Cup.

An exciting day of racing is on the cards with punters having the chance to win a guaranteed share of $200,000 cash with a terminating Pick 6, as well as the two feature races - the $50,000 Kiwifruit Cup and the $50,000 Team Wealleans Tauranga Classic.

To compete in the Punter of the Year, simply prepay your entry fee of $40 per person which includes access to a premium lounge in the members stand and lunch and afternoon tea. All entries also go into the draw to win eight $100 betting vouchers.

Don Paterson, TRAC marketing and sponsorship manager, says the major prize is free entry into the New Zealand Punter of the Year at Hawke's Bay, plus a $1500 betting stake and one night's accommodation.

"We invite everyone to join us for the best winter racing of the season where you can enjoy the action from one of our heated lounges, in the grandstands or on the public lawn," Patterson said.

"And because it's the weekend, we've got plenty of extras including free children's entertainment and free course admission for all.

"While there is plenty of winning to happen on the races, if you don't fare too well, you could win dinner at a top local restaurant with our lucky losing tickets second chance draws. Come along and make sure you are part of the fun."

For more information and the booking form for the Bay of Plenty Punter of the Year go to www.trac.co.nz or call the Tauranga Racing Club on 07 578 6102.
