Tauranga Boys' College's Jacob Proctor is the Western Bay's ASB sportsboy of the month for September.
Proctor, 16, is a talented all-round sportsman, representing the college in a number of sports including rugby and volleyball. But it appears his future may be in rugby league after being invited to play for
the Warriors under-16 development team against the NZ under-16 Maori side.
Proctor impressed selectors in the match and has been invited back to trial for the Warriors in January. New Zealand national junior development squad member Ashleigh Dunston has made a significant mark in squash this year. Dunston is ranked No 2 on the Australian standings after second and third place performances in the Australian national series events this year.
She recently added to this achievement by winning the New Zealand under-15 championships, making the Year 10 student a worthy recipient of the sportsgirl of the month award.
As the winter sports season draws to a close, Tauranga Girls' College's football team is reflecting on a successful season. The first XI coach Rob Taylor is coach of the month after his side took out the Bay of Plenty secondary schools competition and lost only one game all season at the national tournament.
