Tauranga's Olympic-bound slalom kayakers couldn't make the finals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup event in Cardiff over the weekend.
London bound Luuka Jones, in the women's K1, and Mike Dawson, in the men's K1, both made semifinals in their events but finished well off the pace to missthe finals.
Ella Nicholas, who will compete for the Cooks Islands, had a best time of 185.80sec in the heats, finishing near the bottom in qualifying to miss the semifinals.
Jones managed a time of 160.71 seconds to finish 27th in her semifinal, nearly a full minute behind winner Corinna Kuhnle.
Kuhnle went on to place fourth in the final, which was won by Spain's Maialen Chourraut.
Dawson was 34th in the men's semifinal which was a tighter affair, with the Kiwi's time of 107.27sec just 13.35sec off the race winner. Compatriot Aaron Osborne was five places back in 39th.
Tauranga's Ben Gibb, competing in the men's C1 event, was 26th in his semifinal while Shaun Higgins was 30th.
The Cardiff World Cup was the first of the five-race series which will now move to France for race two before the Olympics.
