Brook White and Caylen Greenwood are two guys you wouldn't want to mess with. The duo have been wrestling for four years and just come second in their weight divisions at the Oceania and South Pacific Championships - a precursor to the world championships.
The men recently got back from Samoa,
where the competition was held, flying the flag proudly for Katikati.
Caylen, 19, came second in the Under 74kg freestyle juniors and fourth in the Under 74kg freestyle seniors. Brook took second place in the Under 60kg Greco-Roman division and second in the Under 60kg freestyle.
They were both pleased with their achievements.
"I was pretty happy with that," Brook said.
"It was pretty good, I was hoping for gold but it was a really good competition," Caylen said.
Caylen said he first started wrestling after he got bored with playing soccer.
"I wanted to do a contact sport," he said.
A friend encouraged him to do wrestling and that was the start of his career in the sport.
"I had a natural talent at it, started winning a few tournaments and thought 'this is something I can do'," he said.
Caylen was gutted to be beaten by an Australian, but said he had a good time in Samoa nevertheless. The men did not get much sightseeing done because they rarely left the competition.
"We wrestled all day for two days," Caylen said.
Brook said it was very muggy in Samoa but they learned to deal with it.
"I felt like it was hot as," he said.
"The trip was good, it was good to get away from work as well."
Coach Andy Roach said he was impressed with the dedication the men showed in the lead up to the championships, which came at the end of the Katikati off-season.
"They did very well. Those two really worked hard these last six months," he said. The wrestling club season begins next Wednesday and Mr Roach is keen to recruit fresh talent.
