Element IMF Cadets continued their hold on the top spot in the BOP Cup on Saturday, defeating Rotorua Central.

Led by a century from Ben Christensen, who smashed 128, the Western Bay side declared at 280/5 in the 110-over game at Boord Park, Rotorua. Scott Steward was also in good form with the bat, posting 67 not out, with Matthew Drake reaching 40 before dismissal.

The Baywide heavyweights, who are seeking their first BOP Cup title, continued their vice-like grip on the match when Central went out to bat.

Amandeep Singh, who has returned to the Bay representative team this season, led the way, returning 4/57 as the Rotorua side were removed for 158 to continue Cadets' unbeaten season run.

A winning draw was the result for Platinum Pacific Reclad Mount Maunganui, who faced Tauranga Boys' College at Nicholson Field.

The Mount were in some trouble at 102/6, before former Boys' College player Rob Lethbridge came to the crease.

Batting at eight he compiled a gritty 49 and combined with Dale Swan (39) to greatly assist their team in reaching 236 all out.

Myles Timoti and Tom MacRury took four wickets apiece for the Tauranga students.

The home side were cruising at 97/3, before Andrew Hoogstraten (3/14) and Nick Smith (3/3) ripped through the Tauranga Boys' batsmen, to have them 108/9 with two overs remaining.

However, the last two Tauranga Boys' batsmen stayed at the crease until the end to deny Mount Maunganui the win points.

East Bay United paid a heavy price for arriving at Pemberton Park without six of their key players.

The Eves Realty Greerton bowlers roared through the visitors to roll them for just 91.

Campbell Thomas, who is in his first season at Greerton, took 5/23, with Bay rep Brett Hampton taking four wickets.

Ben Williams (40no) and Craig Budd (25no) took their side to an easy eight-wicket victory.

The three Dutch Academy players who play for Te Puke all got their names in lights against Rotorua Boys' High School at the Te Puke Domain. Dirk van Baren (61) and Joost Kroesen (51) both grabbed half centuries as their side reached 247/9.

A five-wicket bag from Paul van Meekeren played havoc with the Rotorua Boys' batsman as they were dismissed for 169.

Results: East Bay United 91 (R Millesen 19; Campbell Thomas 5/23, Brett Hampton 4/33) lost to Eves Realty Greerton 93/2 (Ben Williams 40no, Craig Budd 35no); Te Puke 247/9 (Dirk van Baren 61, Joost Kroesen 51, Daniel Harpur 48) defeated Rotorua BHS 169 (Paul van Merken 5/41); Element IMF Cadets 280/5 (Ben Christensen 128, Scott Steward 67no, Matthew Drake 40) defeated iTCo Central 158 (Amandeep Singh 4/57, Campbell Wilson 2/19, Sean Davey 2/20); Platinum Pacific Reclad Mount Maunganui 236 (Rob Lethbridge 49, Dale Swan 39; Tom MacRury 4/40, Myles Timoti 4/44) winning draw from Tauranga Boys College 108/9 (Nick Smith 3/3, Andrew Hoogstraten 3/14).
