Volleyball: The North Island Junior Secondary Schools Championships opened on Tuesday at the new ASB Sports Centre in Wellington. Otumoetai College have five teams - three girls and two boys team - competing at this top level competition. Our Junior A Girls team was seeded No.1 after placing first in the Bay of Plenty Champs. Their results after the first day are three wins against Taradale HS 25:9 and 25:5, Te Puke HS 25:17 and 25:8 and Westlake GHS A 25:15 and 25:23.
Our Girls 10B team was placed second in pool play after two wins against Woodford House Prem and One Tree Hill College, and a loss to Western Heights HS and our Girls Year 9A team won against Orewa College and Te Aroha College and lost to Kawerau College.
The Boys 10A team had two wins against Taradale HS and Long Bay College and a loss to Westlake Boys HS A, which sees them placed in second position after day one. The Boys' 9A are developing their team strategies and enjoying the tougher competition at a higher level. The event culminates with finals on tomorrow. Good luck all teams.
