The first century of the Western Bay of Plenty reserve grade competition came at Katikati's Urerata Domain on Saturday as Otumoetai Cadets were thrashed by the home side.

After winning the toss, Cadets batted first and set what seemed to be a good-sized target, dismissed for 238. Ben Warren took three wickets for the home side at a cost of 36 runs.

At 59/4 Katikati was in trouble before Matt Warren joined Mathew Earl at the crease.

The pair took to the Cadets' attack to lift their side home to a six-wicket victory.

Earl posted the first century of the season with an undefeated 106, with Warren also in good touch, unbeaten on 70.

Two Tauranga Boys' College batsmen also put on an outstanding partnership. Te Puke Pickers batted first and were dismissed for 189, with Connor Fifita returning 3/25.

However, the match belonged to Tauranga Boys' player/coach Charles Williams, who hit 95 not out, and Fran?ois Potgieter, who posted a undefeated 45, as Tauranga Boys' got home for the loss of just two wickets.

In other reserve grade encounters, Mount Gold made no race of their clash with Greerton Tigers. Mount racked up a massive 299-8 and then bowled Greerton out for just 113 for an easy victory.
