Gibbs is one of two premier bowlers, who have been recognised for their feats with the ball in the opening months of this year's cricket season.
Tauranga Boys' College bowler Tom Clout was named player of the month for October.
In just the second game of the season, Clout returned 6/20, against East Bay United in Whakatane. After Tauranga Boys posted 221/9, Clout routed the Eastern Bay side's top and middle order taking the first five wickets. He returned to grab the last East Bay wicket.
Clout is among the next wave of Bay of Plenty youngsters, who are travelling along the Bay of Plenty Cricket pathway, following in the footsteps of Kane Williamson, Daniel Flynn and Trent Boult.
Although rain put a dampener on cricket in Rotorua, Te Puke and Rotorua - cricket in Tauranga wasn't affected.
Cadets became just the second club to have their name engraved on the trophy, following back-to-back victories by Mount Maunganui, in the first two seasons of first past the post competition.
Cadets captain Jono Boult said his team was happy to get some silverware in the trophy cabinet.
"An added bonus is that we have qualified as the Bay of Plenty team in the Northern District club championship competition.
"We have a number of young guys in the side who have brought a freshness to the team. Sean Davey, Joe Carter, Morgan Bidois and Matt Hill who have all come to us from Tauranga Boys College."
After the Christmas break attention will turn to the Williams Cup, which is the second leg of the Baywide double. There are few games which will create as much interest, as when Cadets play defending champions Mount Maunganui, on February 18 at Blake Park.
Bay of Plenty Cup points table (final):
Cadets 99, Mount Maunganui 80, Greerton 78, Tauranga Boys College 71, Te Puke 65, Central 54, East Bay United 53, Rotorua Boys' High School 30, BOP Indians 28.
