There's no lack of speed among the Steamers' backline - think pace and right wing Lelia "Flash" Masaga immediately springs to mind.
But if you blink you might miss another - impressive fullback Toby Arnold.
The sevens ace gets his third start in as many games for the Steamers,
who take on arch-rivals Waikato at Rotorua International Stadium tonight.
The 23-year-old was impressive in the first two rounds of the competition with his expertly-timed runs into the backline, although he's cautious about overplaying his hand and says there's still plenty to work on.
"I'm pretty happy with the way I'm going but there are a few mistakes I made that I really want to cut down on, just to get more consistency in my game. But it's going well and I'm getting a bit of ball which is always good."
Coach Sean Horan has made nine changes to his starting lineup tonight from the side that beat North Harbour at Mt Maunganui on Saturday, with prop Bronson Murray and hooker John Parenga moved to the bench and Tristan Moran and Dan Perrin taking their place as Bay look to manage their way through a three-game stretch in eight days.
Despite a strong performance by loose forwards Sam Cane and Luke Braid, the pair have made way for Luke Andrews and Tanerau Latimer. Jamie Nutbrown swaps again with Taniela Moa at halfback and Dan Waenga returns to first-five, replacing Chris Noakes. Second-five Steve Kefu, who suffered a heavy knock to his right knee in round one, returns for Jason Hona, while in the reserves Lance MacDonald, who was concussed on Saturday, has been bracketed with Nick McCashin, with Leighton Price, Carl Axtens and Greg Pleasants-Tate not required.
Freezing weather is forecast in Rotorua but the inter-franchise rivalry should ensure plenty of fire on the park as Chiefs teammates and Super Rugby wannabes go head-to-head. Bay of Plenty lead the premiership (top tier) division but both their wins have been over Championship sides. Arnold said it was like mate again mate as the Chiefs franchise teams lined up.
"There is always a big rivalry between us and Waikato. We always seem to be the little brothers over the Kaimais but we'd like to change that, put our best foot forward and get as many players in the Chiefs and Super 15 as we can."
Bay's abbreviated preparation has been almost exclusively focused on recovery, although Arnold, who has played 33 games for the Bay, is enjoying the short turnarounds.
"I'm pretty lucky being a fullback and not one of the big boys up front, but the body seems to be okay. It's the same for everyone."
