Woman treated for burns

A woman burnt her hand after picking up a pot of burning oil she had forgotten was on the stove yesterday morning.
Tauranga Fire Brigade senior station officer Phil Price said neighbours heard the woman's screams and put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. They also used water from the sink to cool cupboards above the stove.
Mr Price said the incident was a reminder to "keep looking while you're cooking" and put a lid, chopping board or wet teatowel over a fat fire, rather than risk burning yourself or someone else by picking the pot up.
The woman was treated for the burn by St John at her home.
