A woman was taken to Tauranga Hospital after her arm was stuck in a roller door.

A woman was taken to Tauranga Hospital after her arm was stuck in a roller door.

A Mount Maunganui woman had to be rescued from a roller garage door after her arm was caught as it activated.

The 40-year-old was taken to Tauranga Hospital with a suspected broken arm after it became stuck inside the grating of the door.

The woman had been entering a Mount Maunganui apartment complex on Friday night when she reached through the grating to access a switch.

Her arm became stuck and the roller door was activated, lifting her with it.

A St John ambulance spokesman said the service was called at 6.40pm and the woman was free from the door but in pain.

"I don't think she was stuck for long," he said.

"She had her son with her and he ran and got her partner and I think the partner pulled the roller door down."

The woman was taken to hospital but ambulance staff were told the arm was not broken.
