Two people have been arrested following an alleged aggravated burglary of a Michael Hill Jewellery store in Whakatāne.

Footage of the incident provided to the Rotorua Daily Post shows a vehicle backing into the front of the store before leaving the scene as people on the street watch, and one person yells at them.

A vehicle allegedly involved in the incident on Thursday was recovered and was being forensically examined, Detective Senior Sergeant Ash Clements said in a statement.

The incident was reported about 3.30pm.

Police are looking for two further people and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or anybody with video footage from the area, Clements said.
