Whakatāne man Mapu Titoko, 54, dies in crash, investigation ongoing

Police have named the man who died in a crash in the Bay of Plenty last month.

He was Mapu Titoko, 54, of Whakatāne.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Station Rd, near Butler Rd, in Poroporo, Whakatāne about 10pm on June 8.

Three other people were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Two people were taken to Tauranga Hospital by helicopter and one was airlifted to Waikato Hospital.

Police said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.
