Police have released the name of the crash victim who died in Whakamarama earlier this week.

He was Kruz Delma Waitohi Waaka, aged 18 of Papamoa.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said Mr Waaka was a passenger in a car when it collied with a truck in Plummers Point Road on Wednesday.

The incident is under investigation and no further information is available at this stage, Mr Campion said.
