Water tanker called in to contain fire in lower Kaimai ranges

A huge scrub fire in the Kaimai Range is the target of multiple fire brigades this afternoon.

A Fire and Emergency spokesman said the fire was in a 2500 square metre area off Omanawa Rd.

"The fire is contained and fire and emergency staff are conducting mop-up operations," he said.

Three fire crews from Greerton and Tauranga attended and a water tanker was called in for assistance.
