Two men have handed themselves into Tauranga police following outrage of a 'stupid' and 'dangerous' car surfing incident.
A police spokeswoman said this afternoon two 24-year-old local men volunteered themselves to police today.
One was charged with dangerous driving while the other was charged with being party to dangerous driving.
They were expected to appear in Tauranga District Court on Friday.
The Bay of Plenty Times were first to report of the incident, which was filmed and posted on Youtube yesterday.
In that story, police Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair, area prevention manager for Western Bay of Plenty, said staff were "extremely disappointed to see an example of such stupid and dangerous behaviour".
Police would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed or filmed the incident.
We also ask anyone else who has any information about those involved in the "surfing" incident to contact us at Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300, the spokeswoman said.
