Two Tauranga courts were in lockdown this morning following alleged threats to security staff.

In a written statement a police spokesperson said the Tauranga Family Court and Tauranga District Court were placed into voluntary lockdown for a short time.

"Threats were made to security staff at Tauranga Family Court on McLean St about 9.41am, and the lockdown is now over," the spokesperson said

"A person of interest has been located and is assisting police with inquiries."
