A contractor's private car has been recovered from Tauranga Harbour after it rolled off a Mount Maunganui wharf earlier this afternoon.

A Port of Tauranga spokeswoman told the

the contractor's private car, which parked on a Mount Maunganui wharf unintentionally, entered the harbour from berth 5.

The spokeswoman said the incident happened about 2.30pm while the contractor was busy rushing to install a window.

"No one was inside the vehicle at the time and the car has since being recovered," she said.
